So to give the full update….Rome was awesome. We had so much fun with my friends, and we were able to do the entire tourist thing in three days, which was fairly successful. The last day in Rome, of course we have to have a STRIKE!!! So, Tino got to witness the lack of 1st world status that is Italia at it’s best! Haha…We had to get up at the crack of dawn, but we made it to the Colosseo, being harassed by every English speaking tour-guide known to man, and waited in a relatively short line. We knew it was going to rain that day too because the Gypsy men had their umbrellas at the train station, so we were a bit nervous. But we made it through unrained on and went to the Palantine Hill that overlooks all of Rome. It rained there while we were in the catacombs, so that was nice. We then walked to Trastevere and had prosciutto e melone, a salad, a liter of wine, and a giant pizza for really cheap. We then walked all the way to Piazza del Popolo. Now if you look at the map, Trastevere is in the bottom of the map, and Popolo is at the top. It took us a full 25 minutes to walk that distance. But we’re troopers, and young, so we made it in good times. Our last night in Rome we hung out with my best friend Ryan and then proceeded to go home since we had to leave on the 830 train to Salerno so that we could make it to Amalfi by 2pm. Why they had a 2pm check in time I’ll never know…but needless to say, we didn’t make that cut off…but more on Salerno in the next section!
